It looks good in the picture, but everything about it is just a little bit wrong. This mixer drives me crazy! I wish i had bought any mixer but this. First of all, it looks like a nice metal mixer with a metal bowl. Well, the bowl is metal, but the rest of it is just painted silver! It's just made of cheap plastic. Second of all, the dial on the right with all the speeds on it: from the look of it, the mixer has several speeds, one for each number. However when you try to turn the knob, what you find is that it has three speeds- low, medium, and high. The numbers are there for decoration! Then we come to the two metal mixing blades. One of them has an annoying plastic piece on the end that is always getting food stuck in it. I've had plenty of mixers that are designed well so that they don't have to have this hard-to-clean part. It gets food stuck on both the inside and the... For the price, it was a bargain. I did not realize the stand was plastic, or I probably wouldn't have bought it. I'm glad I didn't know. The plastic is solid and it does its job. I haven't had the mixer long, but I haven't had any problems with it. I do have experience with sunbeam products, though, and I feel confident that if any issues arise they will repair or replace the mixer. I see others comparing this to the kitchenaid mixers, and I just don't think that's fair. Compare items in the same price range, and you will not find a better one. Yes, at some point, I would like to trade up to kitchenaid. At eight times what I paid for this one though, it had better be impressive! This model comes with two medium weight stainless bowls, whisk attachments, standard beaters, and dough hooks. I seldom bake bread, so I haven't used the dough hooks, but for cakes, cookies, and the like, it's great. If you are like... But as soon as i opened the package i was very disappointed. Its steel plated and the inside is ALL plastic. I tried kneading small amount of bread using the smaller vessel and the mixer started to slide on the countertop. The upper part of the mixer was shaking as if its going to break or cause some accident. This is with a very small amount of dough, imagine how its going to be if i use the bigger vessel with more dough. This is NOT FOR DOUGH KNEADING. I woudnt pay $80 for a mixier that coudnt knead. Si i just returned it. If you knead a light mixer like for whipping, cake mixing etc it might be good but not for dough kneading. |
