It's great, works as well as the higher priced Kitchen Aids my sisters own, and in every way feels like a quality product. It never shimmies or walks, though I don't overtax it. You probably would get a sturdier more powerful mixer if you were willing to pay- say $500.If you want to get away for under three hundred- buy this. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: ![]() By Jan Prescott "Jan" (Western New York) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hamilton Beach 63227 Electrics All-Metal Stand Mix I've always used a hand mixer, but have trouble with my arms and shoulders, so I asked my husband for this for christmas. It was recommended by Consumer Reports and was a lot less expensive than the Kitchenaid. It does take some getting used to, as the beater doesn't quite touch the bottom of the bowl, so you have to scrape the bottom as well as the sides. Adding ingredients is very different from using a hand mixer, as the blade is in the way, even when you raise it up, and you can't whip the batter off of the blade as you can a hand mixer. That said, it's pretty easy to wipe the batter off the blade with a scraper, and it is wonderful not to have to hold the thing while you're mixing. The shape of the blade seems to mix things fairly quickly, so you're not beating the batter as long. I do wish it came with an extra bowl. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: ![]() By This review is from: Hamilton Beach 63227 Electrics All-Metal Stand Mix I purchased this mixer from another site after reading great reviews on it. I also learned that this mixer was named by Consumer Reports as a best buy! I purchased this mixer for about $125 and it is my first stand mixer. I've always used hand mixers for any of my baking needs and needless to say, I always tried to bake as little as possible. Once I got my new stand mixer though, boy oh boy did that change! I love this mixer. First of all, this thing is solid and heavy. It looks great sitting on my counter and it is amazing how much I use it now. I did throw away the clear plastic thing that sits on the outside of the bowl that is supposed to help you add ingredients...I just thought it got in my way! I have not used it for bread yet, so I cannot say how much power it has for that. It does great with all the general cakes, cookies, whipped cream, meringue, and mashed potatoes that I've thrown at it so far. I've had this four about 6 months and I am looking forward to all...
